Bragging Rights – #MFRWauthor

Good morning and welcome to week 46 of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-Week Blog Challenge. This week’s prompt is Let Me Brag For a Moment. I’m really uncomfortable with blatant self-promotion, so the only reason I’m writing a blog post this week is that I’ve hung in there for 45 weeks before this one, and I’m determined to make it to 52. I try to keep my commitments, even when they’re just to myself.

But bragging? Not really something I enjoy doing.

Mardi GrasI realize I wouldn’t have to brag about myself, but the Internet being what it is, I try not to share too many personal details about family members, so I don’t really want to brag about them. My pets are notoriously lazy, so there’s no real reason to brag about them (unless I brag about how Aramis found a spider two days ago and herded it into the living room so we could kill it._ That was quite amazing.

Or I could brag about how talented I am, having done things to my phone I can’t haven’t figured out how to undo, so every time I get a notification, it interrupts the ring-tone to announce what the notification is for. It’s only mildly annoying when I’m home and working. It’s a bit embarrassing when I’m in public. Even so, I choose to be amazed by the fact that I can do things I don’t even know how to do!

To Do List SmallSo I don’t know. Bragging. I’m a person. Like the rest of you, I work. I work hard. Some days I work harder than others.

I have some success, I have some failures. Sometimes the failures feel fatal for a few minutes (or days), but I do try to get myself up, dust myself off, and start over again. I persevere, even though some days I don’t really want to. Some days, I want to quit, but I don’t. I’ve published 30-something books. Some of them have done really well. A few have appeared on bestseller lists. Some haven’t done so well. It’s the way this business works for most of us. I try to keep going, regardless.

And that’s all I’ve got for today, but since this is a bloghop, make sure you check out all the other posts by the participating authors. Their links are below.

hahaha on the phone thing. I’ve done stuff like that. Like you don’t even know what you did to undo it. It’s quite frustrating to say the least. Sticking with this challenge is a good thing to brag about. I am trying to hang in there. I didn’t start at the beginning, so I can’t say I did all 52 weeks but I’ve not missed one since I did start, so yay.

Shout out those 30 books. I keep being told blatant self-promotion (as long as its done tastefully and not constantly) is allowed. I too find it hard to do as I was always told not to “toot one’s own horn.” Love the telephone accomplishment.

Congrats on 30+ books, and I’m soooo with you when it comes to my phone! Thankfully, I have kids who will help me undo things, and I just smile and ignore their eye-rolling. Yes, their techno-challenged mom has done it again…..
